In 2017, Mason’s undergraduate thesis, Three Psalms, a four-movement work for SATB unaccompanied choir, premiered at Haverford College. The following spring, he composed an original score for Bryn Mawr College’s production of Mr Burns: a post-electric play. Over the next few years, Mason performed and provided music direction in educational, religious, and elder care settings in the Philadelphia area, with a focus on teaching and empowering expression for performers of every age.

In 2021, Mason relocated to New York City to pursue his Masters degree in Writing & Design for Musical Theater, as a part of BerkleeNYC‘s inaugural class. His work aspires to and draws on a variety of styles, from folk and pop singer-songwriters (Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor) to musical theater classic and contemporary (Stephen Schwartz, Howard Ashman, Anais Mitchell).

Mason’s original musical Burn (co-written with Patrick Deane Greeley) has been showcased at 54 Below, the Triad Theater, and the Cutting Room and is in the process of further development.

Currently, Mason is an educator and music director at WolfPAC in Bryn Mawr, PA. He resides in West Philadelphia with his partner and 2 cats.
